Tunisian Ghost Story

I just remembered this ghost story that supposedly happened in Tunisia. It’s quite a well-known one, and i first heard it when i was a kid.

I have no idea what reminded me of this, but i remember this and other stories like it nearly made me shit my pants as a child, lol…

The story goes as follows:

This guy was out for a night walk in downtown Tunis and as he passed by one of the Belvedere Park’s gates, he saw this good looking girl all alone and feeling cold.
So, he walks up to her and gives her his jacket and starts talking to her and all.

They ended up spending the night together, and then he took her home to her parents’ place.

The following morning, he remembers he never got his jacket back from her, so he passes by her parents’ place to get it, and her mom tells him that it’s impossible because her daughter had been dead for years.

So he asks where she was buried and he goes to her grave. And there, lying on the girl’s grave was his jacket.

Quite creepy, huh ?

Top 250 Movies

IMDB have released a list of the Top 250 movies as voted by the users.

It’s a really cool list.
I’ve seen a lot of these movies and agree that they are among the best movies ever made, although i might not fully agree on the order they’re in.
For example, i’d rank Godfather II higher than Godfather I, and the Lord Of The Rings trilogy would certainly top my list.

Anyway, i’ll be trying to see some of the other movies that i don’t know yet if i can get my hands on them, some of the stuff dates back to the 1920’s.

Car Sounds

The other day, on our way home and as were stopped at a traffic light, a taxi stopped next to us and the driver pulled up the hand break.
Automatically, and by the sound of the hand break, i told my wife it was a Peugeot 205, and it was.
Of course, i know the sound of a Peugeout 205 hand break and engine because my dad has one and i’ve driven it quite a number of times, and in fact crashed it quite a few times too ๐Ÿ˜›

But, that reminded me of this game i used to play with my friends of childhood in Zimbabwe.
After school, and while we were waiting for our parents to come pick us up, we’d stand with our backs to the parking, and we’d try to guess what type the cars entering were by their sounds.
With time, we actually got to guess most of them right away by the sound of the engine.

I’m quite sure our ability to guess cars from their sounds never added anything to us or helped us in anything in anyway, but still it was fun, and it was our special game ๐Ÿ™‚

I think it’s really interesting how children can be so creative in making up new games and creating new ways to have fun and enjoy themselves.
I wish we could carry that same spirit of fun and creativity with us throughout our whole lives, it would really be so great and helpful.

Man blows up car trying to defrost it

What the hell was this guy thinking ?

A Croatian man blew up his frozen car after trying to warm it by lighting a fire under the engine.

Zlatko Grden, 52, lit some old newspapers under the engine of his Opel Kadett after it failed to start in freezing temperatures.

He told local media: “I couldn’t start the engine and realised it was frozen. I decided to warm it up. Maybe I used too much paper.”

Grden, of Donja Stubica near the Croatian capital Zagreb, added: “My lovely car is now destroyed.”

Hmmmm…
Sure, your lovely car is now destroyed Mr. Oh-maybe-i-can-fire-it-up-a-bit !
That’s because you didn’t use your oh-what-do-we-have-here-maybe-it’s-a-brain !

Ok, i know that was not nice of me, and i know it must have been a very tragic event for the guy, but i just can’t help wondering what the guy was smoking or drinking before he did this…

Me, a Vegan (NOT !)

Well, yesterday, as i dragged my exhausted and extremely hungry self home from work, and as i was going into our building, i noticed we had something in the mail.
I thought it was either gonna be the greeting cards we’ve been waiting for ever since before New Years or Tunisie Telecom telling me that they’re coming to install my phone line.
Needless to say it was neither, instead i found a little PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) vegetarian starter kit, some sort of magazine that aims to convince me to become a vegan and give up eating meat.

I had ordered the starter kit a while ago out of curiosity and i was interested in seeing what would be in it and how they would try to convince me to quit meat-eating.

I’m sorry to say this, and i mean no offense to vegans, vegetarians or to PETA, but this whole thing is really nonsense.
Some of the reasons given for not eating this or that are so dumb and use a very twisted logic.

I’m totally for the protection of animals against all forms of bad treatment and i totally support the efforts to stop hunting down animals for furs, fun and other cruel reasons.
But i also think that some animals were created to produce things that we can use for our everyday life, things like: eggs, milk, silk, wool and even meat.

Anyway, after going through the whole kit, i am more of a meat-eater than ever before; there’s no way i’m gonna quit eating meat, drinking milk or whatever else these guys want me to quit for the reasons they wrote.
I’m not gonna go eat fake mock meat, soya whatever or tofu rubbish that tastes like shit when i can have a juicy steak, chicken tikka or a milk shake.

And to stress my point and my commitment to meat-eating, i went out last night for a good delicious meal at Baguette & Baguette, where i had a Chicken Burger and a Hamburger (actually Cow meat burger in muslim countries), and it was very very Yummy ๐Ÿ˜›

I also ate some really great french fries. But hey wait a sec ? Don’t vegetables have feelings ? They’re alive creatures too, aren’t they ?
Maybe someone should think of starting PETVF = People for the Ethical Treatment of Vegetables & Fruits ๐Ÿ˜›

Sleep Rescrewed

Don’t you just love it when you’re over-exhausted, just had a delicious dinner and finally get to your bed which is perfectly soft and warm and you’re already dreaming of the great sleep you have ahead of you ?

And don’t you just hate it when after all that, you end up waking in the middle of the night with this sudden weird case of insomnia ?
I mean, you’re so damn tired your body parts are about to fall apart, but you just can’t fall asleep again.

And wouldn’t you just hate it even more if when you were about to get over that insomnia and were about to drift into a sweet sleep, the damn neighbour’s alarm goes off so loud and keeps on beeping for over half an hour !!!

And at last, after the neighbour’s alarm stops and after going through another long pre-sleep period, you finally slip into this beautiful state of perfect slumber, but your shitty alarm goes off telling you that your time is over and it’s time to go to work again !!!
Aaaarrrrggghhhhh !!!

I hate alarms !!!
And i hate my upstairs neighbours !!!
