Dean Out Of Race

So Howard Dean is out of the US presidential race.
I heard it last night on CNN, and I can’t say I was shocked. After the wins John Kerry has been packing under his belt, I was expecting Dean to pull out.

It’s a shame, I think. Dean was the only person who was thinking the right way and who really wanted and could make a change.

Now, John Kerry and John Edwards are left in the race, and it’s almost obvious Kerry is going to get the nomination.

I haven’t posted my opinion about Kerry before, so here it is.
I think Kerry is just another special interests driven politician who won’t really bring much new or change.
Of course, lining up with the Anyone But Bush Americans, I think he should become President of the US.
But honestly, I think the US needs a President who can make a change for the American people and the world. Someone who is in touch with what the people need and what their priorities are. Someone who can keep the US the greatest power but also make it respected and loved.
I felt Howard Dean could make a step towards something like that.

Anyway, Good luck to whoever wins the nomination.

CIA Iraqi Rewards Program

How wonderful, intelligent, innovative, desperate and pathetic !

The CIA, the great agency that supposedly knows everything and that was 1000% sure that Iraq has Weapons of Mass Destruction, and even claimed to know exactly where they were is now giving up it’s macho act and showing that they basically know nothing at all.

It has posted a little form on their website called the Iraqi Rewards Program for people (snitches) to submit whatever tips on WMD locations or other Iraq related intelligence.

They say the form is secure and confidential, but who knows, if they find your information to be interesting enough you just might hit the jackpot and find yourself in the next dark cell or aboard the quickest flight to Guantanamo and your face on the front page of every newspaper and website.

Interested ? Here’s the Iraqi Rewards Program.

Africa 2015 : For an AIDS-free Generation

Africa 2015
Everyday on my way to work I pass by a bunch of posters with the slogan Africa 2015 : For an AIDS-free Generation, and everyday I say to myself, I’m gonna check this out and blog about it, but I always forget.
So here it goes today ๐Ÿ™‚

Africa 2015 is an initiative to promote awareness and achievement of the eight Millennium Development Goals that world leaders adopted at the Millennium Summit in 2000.

It focuses initially on combating HIV/AIDS, part of Goal 6. The target by 2015 is to halt and begin to reverse the spread of the disease, which has spread to 42 million people worldwide, more than 30 million in Africa.

… By targeting HIV/AIDS, the initiative also aims to help achieve the other goals – eradicating extreme poverty and hunger, achieving universal primary education, promoting gender equality and empowering women, reducing child mortality, improving maternal health, ensuring environmental sustainability, and developing a global partnership for development.

I think this is a great initiative, and I truly hope it gets enough support to go on and make Africa a better place for everyone.

For more information on this initiative, check out the official Africa 2015 website.

Enough about Janet Jackson already

I’ve really had enough about Janet Jackson and her boob flash at the Super Bowl.
Wherever i go online, all i find is more and more talk and pics about Janet and her tits.

What is it with people ?
What’s so disturbing in an accidental boob flash ?
Movies, TV ads, magazines and the internet always show women’s breasts intentionally, but no one ever complained.

Little kids were watching ?
So ?
Do you really think that’s the first time they’ve seen one ?
With all the movies, satellite channels, internet sites, …etc
For god’s sake, they can even see them in the streets if they know where to look ๐Ÿ˜›

Of course, i don’t think it’s a good thing to have some singer flash her boob on live television, but it happened, she said it was accidental, she said sorry, Justin Timberlake said sorry, that’s it, move on, no need for such a big fuss.

Why your Movable Type blog must die

So a guy named James A C Joyce from Kuro5hin suddenly lashes out at Movable Type and all MT bloggers in an explanation Why your Movable Type blog must die !

I think it’s a rather stupid post actually.
I don’t know why this guy thinks he’s in a position to judge other people and their blogs, and generalize his stereotype of MT bloggers.

Kuro5hin is one of the biggest and most known group blogs, even though i never really enjoyed it much, but i think it’s a shame something like this was posted there.

Social Networking Nonsense

Ok, call me whatever you want to call me, but i just don’t get this whole social networking thingie.
What’s the use ? Why does everyone think it’s cool ? Why is everyone so mad about it ?
I can’t find one good answer to any of these questions.

The concept’s been around for ages, and i’ve tried it out more than once, but everytime i never really found any good in it.

Six Degrees, LinkedIn, Orkut, Friendster, Tribe and the list goes on and on and on. Why ?

Why would anybody need to see a virtual representation of his network of friends, his friends’ friends and so forth ?
It’s totally useless and a big waste of time.

A way to make new friends ? Your friend’s friends aren’t necessarily your friends and your friend’s enemies aren’t necessarily your enemies. so what’s the point ?

A way to see how many degrees of seperation there are between you and the hot chick next door ? Don’t bother, you’re never gonna get her anyways !

A way to re-assure your complex self that you have friends ?
You need a shrink for God’s sake not a social networking site.

I’m ready to pay anyone who convinces me of the use of stuff like this.
Anyone interested ?
