The Tenth Planet

So it has been confirmed that our Solar system has a 10th planet which is larger than Pluto and nearly three times farther from the Sun as Pluto is.

The new planet, temporarily designated 2003 UB313, is the most distant object yet seen in the solar system, 97 times farther from the Sun than the Earth is. It also is the largest body yet found orbiting in the Kuiper belt, the group of icy bodies including Pluto which orbit beyond Neptune.

Like Pluto, it is covered by methane ice, and at its present distance is chilled to just 30

Art Prankster Sprays Israeli Wall

Secretive “guerrilla” artist Banksy has decorated Israel’s illegal West Bank barrier with satirical images of life on the other side.

The nine paintings were created on the Palestinian side of the barrier.

One depicts a hole in the wall with an idyllic beach, while another shows a mountain landscape on the other side.

Another picture shows the head of a white horse appearing to poke through, while he has also painted a ladder going over the wall.

Banksy’s spokeswoman Jo Brooks said: “The Israeli security forces did shoot in the air threateningly and there were quite a few guns pointed at him.”

Banksy, who hails from the UK city of Bristol, never allows himself to be photographed and created the images last week.

Beurger King Muslim

BKM

The list of fast food chains in France has a new addition – BKM or Beurger King Muslim, which hopes to rival “McDo”, Quick and KFC with a gut appeal to the country’s large Muslim minority.

Young female employees face no ban on wearing the Islamic veils outlawed in French schools as they serve up burgers that would be off-limits for a religious crowd at competitors Quick or McDonalds.

Though “Muslim” fast food abounds in France with endless street-side shawarma shops selling sliced-meat sandwiches or kebabs, Beurger King Muslim is the first to clone the set-up and decor of American-style fast food joints so popular among French youth.

And not without humour. The name is a play on both the huge American chain as well as the French slang word “beur”, which means second generation North Africans living in France.

Customers can order “bakon halal”- a bacon burger made with halal meat, or meat prepared according to Muslim ritual, “double koull cheese” — “koull means “eat” in Arabic, or “koull filet”.

The first – and only – shop so far opened its doors last month in Clichy-sous-Bois, a suburb of Paris.

BKM’s originators said they hope to create a franchise and set up Beurger King Muslims all around France – whose five million Muslims represent eight percent of the country’s overall population.

I think this is very interesting.
It’s always good to see businesses like this popping up and creating more jobs for people in these neighbourhoods.
I wonder how the food tastes though.
Anyone in France willing to check it out and let us know?

Tunisian Astrologist Predicts Next Terror Target

Following the recent London attacks, which stunned the UK as well as the entire world, the next major attack, will take place in Paris, according to a Tunisian astrologist.

Tunisian Hassan al-Charni, deputy president of the World Union of Astrologers, who had reportedly “predicted” the deaths of Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, Hamas leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, Pope John Paul II and Princess Diana – and the recent attacks in London – has put France on the target line, saying Paris would be the next major European city to suffer a major

Circumcision Helps Halt HIV/AIDS

New research suggests circumcision could be effective in preventing the spread of HIV among men.

The study of more than 3,000 men in South Africa was done by the French agency for Aids and Viral Hepatitis.
The data, outlined at a conference in Brazil, shows male circumcision prevented about seven of 10 infections.

Previous studies have suggested that men who are circumcised have a lower rate of HIV infection.

It is thought that the cells of the foreskin are much more susceptible to HIV than cells on other parts of the penis, so by removing the foreskin, the likelihood of infection drops.

I wonder what Dr. Zizou has to say about this…

As for me, I think that’s good news, but I just can’t but wonder why the foreskin was created in the first place if it’s better to get circumsized and obligatory for Muslims and Jews to get circumsized?!
I’m not questioning God’s wisdom here, I’m sure he has his reasons. I guess my little human brain can’t see them though.

They say that if the results are confirmed, then circumcision could be used alongside condoms to prevent the spread of HIV. But implementing this measure on a large scale will be complicated.
I guess we could send them a group of our professional Tunisian circumsizers ๐Ÿ˜‰

Lance Armstrong Wins 7th Tour de France

Lance Armstrong ended his storybook career in Paris on Sunday by winning a record seventh consecutive Tour de France title.

It seemed impossible in 1999, when he collected the first of his 82 yellow jerseys and the third of 23 stage wins, for anyone to win seven Tours — in particular a rider like Armstrong who almost lost his life to testicular cancer diagnosed in 1996.

In the seven years that ended on Sunday, Armstrong helped cycling shift from a sport of traditions and folklore into a modern, professional, global one.

In a speech he gave from the podium, he said: “To all the cynics, I’m sorry for you. I’m sorry you can’t believe in miracles. This is a great sporting event and hard work wins it; Vive le Tour forever.”

I really admire Lance Armstrong for his strong will, his love for the sport, his power, that let him overcome his illness, and his great optimism.

Congratulations for this record seventh win, you truly and totally deserve it.
