So, as planned, we went to the one-man-show by Lamine El Nahdi on New Year’s Eve, and it was great ๐
This guy is just so damn hilarious.
After that, we went home and watched a movie called Down With Love starring Ewan McGregor & Ren

Well, recently i’ve been doing a lot of thinking about myself, how i treat people, how people treat me back, how i handle certain situations, and lots of other things.
And well i have to honestly say that i’m not all that satisfied.
It’s not that i’m doing anything wrong or treating anyone badly, in fact it’s the contrary, i’m doing everything right and treating everyone great, which seems to be something wrong in this twisted world of ours.
It pisses me off how people interpret your kindness and niceness as weakness, your respect and caring as a lack of personality !
It also bugs me how you waste so much time thinking about what the person in front of you will think or if what you say will hurt them when they don’t ever care about you or think twice before shooting a bullet up your butt !
In short, i’m kind of getting fed up of always being Mr. Nice Guy who wants peace and love for the entire world while no one gives a rat’s ass ๐
And so, i’ve taken a decision to give myself an update, to go in to the core of the kernel of my system software and make some changes to my I/O systems and interfaces.
This doesn’t mean i’m going to become an asshole all of a sudden, lol, nah, i couldn’t do that even if i tried, i think it’s built in somewhere in the hardware for me to be nice ๐
I’m just going to try to change a little bit, and patch myself to be able to deal with this world and it’s people better, i guess.
I’m not sure i should have posted this, because i guess people who know me will start watching my every move from now on to see how and if i changed.
But i don’t think there will be much for people to notice, as i’m hoping for a smooth transition ๐
Hopefully, there won’t be any secondary effects to this patch i’m planning ๐
Well, as some must have noticed, Subzero Blue (this blog) was offline during most of Dec. 15 & part of Dec. 16.
This downtime was on purpose, and as a manifestation of this blog’s everlasting support for a very important cause !
Oh, ok, i’m lying, loool…
I do strongly support a lot of important causes fully, but i regret to say that the downtime was for purely technical problems this time.
It was a problem with the hosting and all.
Anyway, thanks to Houssein (THE MAN), we’re up again on a new host; faster, better and stronger.
Hip Hip, Hooray ๐
It’s unbelievable.
Just this past Sunday, i was wondering how weird it was that winter hadn’t started yet, even though we were well into December.
And KABAAM!, i wake up the following morning and it’s freezing cold.
Ok, it doesn’t snow that often in Tunisia, and the only places it does are in the North-West of the country. So maybe it’s easy to think it’s not as cold as other countries that are always covered in snow, but well i disagree.
Tunisia is a coastal country with the mediterranean sea as most of it’s North and East side borders, which gives the coastal regions a certain level of humidity, that when combined with bitter cold goes straight to the bones and then introduces the ass-freezing syndrome we all suffer from ๐
Good thing is that our new home is kind of warm. And even in this cold weather, we still haven’t needed to use the heaters.
But the problem is when you’re outside, and no matter how much you’re wearing, you’re certainly gonna be feeling the painful bite of the winter.
Anyway, i still prefer winter over summer. In winter at least you can keep throwing on extra clothes until you feel warm. In the summer, you keep on taking off clothes, but then you’re naked and there’s nothing else to take off and you’re still dying from the heat.
So give me a winter anytime of the year, and take away those damned hot days of summer.
So yesterday evening i finally met the famous Houssein, a really nice Tunisian guy and fellow blogger who lives in Montreal and who generously hosts this blog too ๐
We had some coffee at a caf
I was just checking out some of my blogs from the recent days when i felt that maybe i was passing through the wrong message regarding the US, and so i thought i’d just blog about it and state my official position.
I’m not Anti US, never was, never will be. I’m just against the current US policies and leadership, just like millions of Americans and other people around the world.
There’s a huge difference.
I don’t hate Americans nor the US as a country, in fact i have very good friends who are Americans, and i’d even like to visit the US for tourism someday and visit all the beautiful places in it.
I totally think that it was a big mistake for Bush to become president. And i think that he is steering the US in a wrong direction and messing up things for the American people as well as the world.
If i were American, i would have voted for Gore in 2000, and would probably vote for Dean in 2004, but i’m not an American, and all i can do is watch.
I think the American people deserve a lot better than this leadership and that they should stand up for themselves in the next elections and choose someone who can fix this mess and focus on making lives better instead of ruining them.
God Damn It !
Now, after nearly 6 years, i finally know why the hell my old pc started playing that damn symphony !!!
It was exactly the night before i had to hand in and present my System Analysis project to the grumpiest and shittiest professor in the Computer Science department, a full Real Estate Agency system built using Oracle 7.
As if i didn’t go through enough pain with Oracle killing my pc’s memory and making me suffer to get it work right, when i finally sighed marking the end of the project, my once beloved pc started playing this symphony for me, and God knows i nearly shit myself right then and there.
After scanning the damn thing with every anti-virus software i could get my hands on and trying every possible thing that came to mind, the pc speaker was still buzzing away. by this time, in my mind, it was no longer a symphony, it was this damned pc telling me to go screw myself.
Having to take the pc with me to university for the presentation, i couldn’t allow it to go on with that maddening tune, so i unplugged the pc speaker and enjoyed the peaceful quiet that followed.
It got me through the presentation ok, although i was trembling in fear it would screw the whole thing at any second.
That pc speaker remains unplugged to this very day, holding a memory of a haunting tune that once threatened to give me a heart attack.
So the Eid was on tuesday 25th ๐
As foreseen, my wife and I went for a tour among relatives, then finished it with a dinner at my parent’s place.
Yesterday, we just visited one relative we weren’t able to pass by on tuesday, and then i gave my wife another driving lesson (reminding her of driving a normal gear car), and then we went to Carrefour to develop some films and waste time ๐
That was basically the Eid for me this year ๐
PS: Turns out things got messed up in my brain again, the Douz festival doesn’t start this week, it starts this week next month, lol…
Oh well, you can’t blame me for a simple mistake like that, i was hungry and mindless for God’s sake, lol…
Well Eid El Fitr is just around the corner (tomorrow or the day after), ushering in the end of the holy month of Ramadan, and giving us our normal food-driven lives back.
Ahhh, i miss those coffee breaks at work ๐
The Eid in Tunisia is a great occasion for extended families to see each other and stay in touch, as they go around visiting each other and wishing one another a happy Eid.
This year, just like last year, we’ll call my wife’s family in Jordan, then we’ll be going for a spin among my relatives wishing them a happy Eid.
I think my mom will be cooking Mloukhia, which is my favourite dish. So maybe we’ll be having dinner at my parent’s place after we finish visiting the relatives.
The second day of Eid will most probably be a day of laziness for me, as i’ll try to cover all the close relatives in day one ๐
Maybe we’ll go out somewhere or just relax at home and watch a movie.
The Douz Festival starts this week too, so going down south again and attending it would be a great idea, if only i had the money to afford it.
Anyway, Sneen Dayma and Eid Mubarak to everyone ๐
Well, it seems our upstairs neighbours and us are basically never gonna be friends, lol…
After the satellite dish installation a while back, and the sleepless nights we passed because of their obsession with high volume, it seems they got bored of the dish and got a helicopter pad installed in their balcony instead.
Helicopter pad ??
Well yeah that’s how it sounds like, ALL NIGHT LONG !!!!
I dunno what the hell it is: a helicopter, a bad ass AC, or some hell of an engine, i just know it’s very darn noisy, and it’s been screwing up our sleep since the weekend.
We’re thinking of writing them a letter to ask them to keep it down, but what the hell am i gonna write when i don’t even know what the hell it is that is causing the noise ?
Maybe something like: “Find another place to park your damn helicopter !” or “Don’t bring your noisy mechanical sex toys home with you !”
