LBC Star Academy 2

The second season of the Arab version of Star Academy starts today on LBC at 18:30 GMT.

16 contestants have been selected from all over the Arab world, including one Tunisian girl, Amani Souissi.

I didn’t watch LBC’s Star Academy last year, and only saw a “Best Of” episode after it all ended. But I heard a lot about it, too much in fact.

Everyone was mad about it, and it was a big success for LBC.
People from all around the Arab world, from all ages were pinned to their TV sets watching the contestants’ every move, choosing their favourite, talking endlessly about them, and wasting their money voting for them.
And the people who weren’t interested in the show were interested in the Lebanese presenter Hilda Khalifa 😛

In short, the Arab world was hit by Star Academy Mania and they loved every bit of it.
Now, it’s about to happen all over again.

But would it be appropriate for people to spend so much money now to vote for some talentless nobodies when that money could help so many people in countries that were hit by the disastrous tsunami, providing clean water, food, shelter and so much more?!

  1. Being in the US, I always want to keep up with things happenning the arab world. Last year, I watched Star Academy, but only the prime which the LBC re-runned On Friday night. I liked the primes, but I wouldn’t watch the 24 hour channel, a total waste of time. However, I agree that people should not vote per sms, and put that money somewhere else, to help hungry Palestinian people, and people hit by Tsunami …..

  2. Hehe, Star Academy freaks me out 🙂 I’m the kind of person who doesn’t watch TV as its a waste of time, and I think most movies are too silly, so watching Star Academy last year was kind of an impossibility at first.
    Then the whole Bahaa’ thing started, and I got curious, and I started watching it just to see who Bahaa’ is and to look for resemblance, then LOL, I found myself getting hooked.
    It’s actually rather entertaining 🙂 Ok, talentless as you said, but regardless. It was fun. I hope this years show will be as fun.

    the contestants have no real talent. They act like clowns!!!
    i watched some of the show last year and thought it was crap!!
    it’s sad that arab teenagers are being influenced
    by such stupid programs!!!!

  23. I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE STAR ACADEMY!!!!!!!
    Imight be 14 year old but the concept of the show is great. I live in the usa and i watch it all the time. They teach you things so that you can become better and actually achieve your dream. To star academy 1 u were all awsome and so was attieh. i was so happy he won because he deserves it. this year im rooting for my lebanese home boy samer. he is a good singer good person and a cute kid. i hope someday when i get old enough i can participate in star academy because eversince last year its always been a dream.

    For all those losers who think star academy is bad or stinks they r the ones who stink because they just wish they could do what they are doing and its also because they arent liked like these people

    star academym ill always have your back. whether you were the ones from the past present and future ill always love you all. i hope someday i can be able to aacheive my dreams just like they did on star academy in lebanon
