Jad Choueiri, Aaaarrrggghhh!

Anyone checking out the plethora of Arabic music channels, that keep popping up on every satellite frequency possible, and having the courage to go through the experience of watching some of the videos they play will most probably catch the name Jad Choueiri on their screen quite often.

Jad Choueiri is a Lebanese singer, producer and video director.
He and the people he’s working with are riding the wave of sexually crazed music and videos that are playing on Arabic music channels.
From Tina to Maria to his own material and others, this guy is the driving force behind the lowest music ever released in the Arab world.

Being a music fan who stops by Arabic music channels on his daily trip through the Vh1s, MTVs, Rotanas, Mazzikas and other satellite music channels, I have come to know his style very well.

In short, if the video has the singer looking at the camera like a cat in heat, showing their tongues a lot, breathing heavily, baring more skin than you’d usually expect and singing already bad lyrics like shit, then it’s most probably something Jad is associated to.

But, giving credit where credit is due, his style of directing is quite good if we forget about the sex obsession.
I think that if he focuses more on that and starts thinking more with his brain instead of some other part of his body, he could really produce some pretty nice music videos. Maybe.

As for singing, he should totally forget about it. His voice sucks like hell, and his lyrics are even worse.
I get ear cramps, if such a thing exists, whenever I catch a song of his on 😛

  1. Thank You MMM, I was going to write something about this guy, but you did it first, and you said exactly what’s on my mind, and on the minds of many others who are suffering from the low level of Arabic music these days.
    You were right about Jad’s talent in directing, he should really reconsider if he wants to improve. Every time I remember how cheap and dirty the video clips he directed really are, I can’t but feel disgusted. It’s such a shame to give Arabic music such a bad reputation on the local and international levels.

    MMM icouldnt agree with you more!!.. the first time i saw him was one night when i was trying to fall asleep his video came on ..and i was so disturbed i thought it was a nightmare ..so the next morning i looked him up on the internet and there he was!! it was for real! (I dont know why i was that suprised because of course there are so many out there like him .. and Nancy Ajram..and Ruby..and Alex..etc).. so anyway .. i think this guy is so disgusting .. he came out of the enrique eglasias wannabe factory.. and he sounds like he needs to blow his nose!…seriously listen to that voice! and his dancing makes me so sick.. !! .. it used to be just women.. now whats happening to our men??.. are they all turning gay cuz we have to copy everything America is doing ?? because its supposedly “backwards” not to??.. o ya and in Nancy Ajrams videos she always has some gay guy hanging around her..he reminds me of Jad and Alex and them ..i dont know any Arabs who like this kind of stuff.. but since we let TV depict how we should live and no one seems to have any standard they will all prbly be praising these people and trying to look and act like them in a few years..

  13. I would like to put some comments on some quotes exracted from other people posts here and to communicate some personal thoughts, first of all I’m not with any of the two sides, neutral just like a neutron!

    Jad Choueiri’s videos:
    With the exception of the video of someone named Tina, which is empty && nonsene && sucks big time (it’s like one of these fu**ng ads in cheep porn channels, pff:( ), I can’t see anything disturbing or “sexually crazed” or that kind of stuff. Maybe your just amplifing the problem more than it actually is!
    I’m not saying that these videos rock & blah blah, they are rather ‘light’ music, ‘jettable’ and I suppose they are not meant to be compared to songs like Enrique’s(one of my best), I can’t see anything gay in these songs & I don’t think his dressing style is any guy oriented or it does MAKE(=TRANSFORM) him that way, maybe unusual that’s all. In his songs, the voice doesn’t matter that much, only beat & rythm.
    Please if you have no updated contact with dancing styles, new ones, please don’t say things like “dances like a girl”, (he does not really; reconsider to look again, do you expect him to dance oriental style with those audios??, come on please)

    Copying things like dance & dress styles do not heart I think, as long as one does not blindly imitate!

    Listen, (not specifically the quote’s author), everyone has it’s own tastes as time changes, If you do not like a particular song or a kinda music just goddamn ignore it, simple!
    yes it’s true new kinds of music, life style, dressing styles are born with time and circumstances, f**kerys in this unfair world, i’ll point you to the whole HipHop culture as an example, originally born within African Immegrated quarters that have been faced to racism, poverty, violence etc etc etc, also Blues Music, etc.. well known stories
    Wanna dance, (limiting to arab music) get some Jad, wanna relax or try to fall asleep get some OumKalthoum not MelodyHitsTV!!
    How can I dance (for a variety or reasons, fun w/ friends, stress removal, …) under the rhymes of ‘Abdel 7alim and Fairuz and Oum Kulthom’, yeah you guessed right, I can’t!
    We have in our arab society BTW, some active & true HipHop groups (rappers mainly) their music reflects problems in society etc
    they are not necessarily “Made in USA”
