Ok, What the hell am I talking about, I hear you ask.
Well, I’m talking about this new breed of Arab singers who have shitty voices, keep moaning throughout their songs and who look like they’ve just been picked out of a porn movie.
It’s incredible, whatever Arabic music channel you switch to, there’s some new singer’s video and the song sucks, their voice sucks even more, the music is ripped off and they’re totally offbeat.
But wait, they weren’t really counting on all the previous ingredients to lure you, they were counting on the semi-naked woman/women singing, dancing, moaning and groaning to do that.
Then there are the guys who have a bunch of girls strip dancing in the background while they sing about something totally irrelevant.
Where has all this come from?
Why has the woman body become so cheap?
I can’t believe it.
I know this is yet another attempt to immitate the west. But believe me sometimes I feel they’ve even outdone them.
I mean western videos do have a lot of sex, nudity and all, but not to the extent where you feel that the scene was just cut out of a B-rated porn movie.
This really has to stop. It truly should be unacceptable for stuff like this to be on our TV screens.
God, I’m happy someone finally wrote about this. I totally agree with you. Music has become so cheap and annoying, singing is now open for anyone as long as they have either the looks, or the money, or the sex-appeal. Voices suck, video clips are exactly what you described them, and I hope someone will stop this stupidity. It doesn’t only use the woman body in the cheapest way ever, but also disrespect the audience.

Take a look at the recent Jerash Festival and notice how many tickets were sold for shows that displayed exactly what you are critizing. Half clad performers who parade on stage trying to sing. But these “singers” are giving us exactly what we want (as sales of tickets and CDs show). If more people reject what they force down our throats with this garbage then they will be forced to change.

If Wattani song,for instance, will sell good they’ll go for it. it’s about making money for them and we,listeners, who make it work or not for them. We should raise high and refuse that garbage.

Its good that Future TV and LBC show such Videos, because there are different perceptions of sexuality and morality in the Arab world.
Some people don’t understand that and want to export their radical views elsewhere. If you are happy with your tradition then live with it, but don’t force it on someone else, because it is not my tradition. Lebanon is different from Oman, and Yemen is different from Turkey and Saudi-Arabia is different from Somalia.

I have read many of the comment made by men who dislike and disragree on how women are presented in the media these days using the sex-apeal to reach out to larger audience among men. In the Arab world, women has been and always been a sexual object for men to have children and to fullfill their desires and pleasures but only in private. Now, some women are liberated able to use that for their own interst and advantage with or without men’s approval. If a man is concerned with any social morality, one could or should teach and help a daughter, sister, mother or wife ways to educate her self, preserve her degnity and self respect according to renewable morale code but according to some stupi tradition invented centries and centries ago by men for men against women. Men who do not like what they see on Tv have the possiblity and the choice not to watch it by changing the chanel if others are available or turn of the Tv and read a book of thier choice. fanally, men should say that they are concern withe women moralities because they care only about thier control over women who actualy are capable to compete with men in many aspect of daily life. these mentality is sick, unrealistic and no longer usefull.

The Arab world must stop trying to imitate the West. Arab music is rich in culture and steeped in history, it does not need poor imitators of Madonna or George Michael, since this I find is very shameful. It is time that Arab music went back to its roots, and gained inspiration from there and not the Godless West, as this will only bring disrepute to any society or culture. Also be very wary of the country we call Lebanon. I have seen the filth they put on the Lebanese channel LBC. This channel is the primary tool used by the West and its Jewish owners to bring filth to the homes of the Muslim families. Lebanon has always been a secular society with little appreciation of Islamic values, in part because it has a sizeable Christian community. The Chrisitan Arabs of Lebaonon and their singers and recording studio’s have their own agenda of secularising the Arab world through their filthy channels and airing pro-western propganda through music video’s to influence the impressionable young.

Labanese TV channels, such as LBC, and other like it continue to churn out the same boring retarded music videos, designed to cheapen and degrade women. Whenever there are controversial music videos, which are quite frankly pornographic in their contenet, there is always a Labanese or an Egyptian involved. However why is everyone so surprised! I mean these countries send their women to beauty contests, and their women can be seen dancing on the beach in their bikin’s with a cocktail in their hand!
