Last Night, or to be more precise, early this morning, I finished reading “Life of Pi”, a great novel by Yann Martel.
I heard a lot about this book and read a number of reviews about it, so when I found it in Prime Megastore, I bought it right away and jumped into it immediately.
I was sucked into the story, and I loved the way it was flowing and how the writer was telling it.
It’s an amazing story, beautiful and amusing too.
It’s about a teenage Indian boy called Pi Patel and his journey with religion, his life in India in his father’s zoo and his survival after a ship wreck.
It’s a truly magical story that is very well painted for imaginations to build and live in.
If you’re a book lover and need a nice good book to enjoy, I suggest “Life of Pi”. I really enjoyed it.
I read Life of Pi few months ago. I enjoyed it but I had one major problem with it.
The part where he is in the sea dragged a bit. Pi stayed in the sea for too long and I kept saying to myself: “God when will this end.”
I just thought, the first half was more intriguing than the second half. Overall, it is a good book and worth your money.
I’m reading a great book nowadays and I think you should check it out. It is called I, the Divine by a Lebanese-American writer, Rabih Alamudine. Brilliant writing!
Oh, wow. I love it when you do book reviews! I’m an obsessive reader but I’m having a little problem with that since we moved to Jordan. The sales people at bookshops are merely sales people. They have never read any of the books they’re selling, and I’m used to taking opinions of people I know rather than firms like Amazon. I’ve heard about Life of Pi, but I thought it would be mathmatical (don’t even ask).
So book reviews are really, really appreciated ๐
I was in search of books not very long ago and this was on my list of prospective books to buy. My sister raved about it, but instead I bought a sci-fi book called Ender’s Game and a fiction called The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay. I finished Ender’s Game and over half of the second book, so a new book will be needed very soon. I’ll make it Life of Pi next. ๐ Thanks for the book review.
Well, I found the book boring from the begenning, so I didn’t finish reading it. I am more into books where there is a lot of action. However, I could it was a great book, just not for my test though…
Yeah Natasha, I agree that at some points I too felt that the whole sea bit was becoming a bit too long, but then I’d say maybe it’s because I’m so eager to know what’s next.
Roba and Jenn, I’m happy I was of help ๐
I hope you enjoy reading it ๐
Zizou, I see what you mean.
Well, it’s true everyone has their own taste in everything.
oh and Natasha, thanks for the tip on the book ๐
I’ll try to check it out ๐
I finished it last night and it was really good. The writing style is so creative.
The best thing about the book is that it is all written in Chapter 1. There are dozens of chapters but are all chapter one. Imagine!
Ok, I’m not gonna spoil it for you so I will not elaborate more. It was such a good read.
